Steel
Carbon Steel
Cutting Carbon Steel on our abrasive waterjet leaves no heat-affected zones, no change in material properties and no distortion as well as producing a smooth edge.
Hardened Tool Steel
Tool steel can be cut in a fully hardened state without any change in material properties. Great for cutting dies and tooling.
Stainless Steel
All grades of stainless steel can be cut on our waterjet. Unlike other cutting techniques, using a waterjet easily allows us to cut reflective materials, such as shiny stainless steel. We can also engrave stainless steel with text, logos, etc, using our laser.
Alloys
Aluminium
Aluminium is the most commonly cut material on the waterjet as it cuts quickly and cleanly without any defects.
Titanium
The waterjet is ideal for cutting titanium, which can be a challenging material for other machines. It can be cut without any thermal distortion or surface embrittlement.
Copper, Bronze & Brass
All grades of copper, bronze and brass cut quickly and cleanly on the waterjet. Copper is great for gaskets and these can easily be reproduced using the waterjet.
Composites
ACM (Aluminium Composite Material)
ACM material can be cut easily on the waterjet, giving a clean edge finish. The material cuts very fast and cleanly and is commonly used in signage applications.
Reinforced Composites
Reinforced composites, such as Carbon Fibre or glass reinforced plastics cut quickly and cleanly. Essentially we can cut any other fibre-reinforced material, including Kevlar.
Soft Materials
Plastics
There are many kinds of plastics, most of which can be cut on the waterjet and laser. Acrylic is another type of plastic which can be cut and engraved using our laser. It is a common material, especially in signage as there is a wide range of colours, tints and finishes such as mirror and fluro.
Wood
Most types of wood can easily be cut on the waterjet without affecting it. Although some thin types of wood are more affected by the water and some thick hardwood can also be difficult to cut. We also cut MDF and thin Plywood and engrave onto most other woods with our laser.
Rubber, Foam & Leather
These Soft materials cut easily using a waterjet, including fibre or steel reinforced rubber as well as very hard rubber. Leather is another material that can also be cut and engraved with the laser.
Brittle Materials
Glass & Mirrors
Our waterjet is a very useful tool for cutting a wide variety of glass products, from thin glass mirrors to thick multi-layered bullet-proof panels for vehicles like forestry machinery and buildings like bank protection. The only glass that cannot be cut is tempered glass, as it's designed to shatter into tiny pieces if cut or broken.
Stone & Concrete
We can cut stone products of all types on the waterjet. Applications include natural stones like Granite countertops, inlaid Marble flooring, decorative wall panels and stone sculptural pieces. Oamaru stone (Whitestone) and concrete cut easily and other materials can be inlaid into the stones.
Ceramics & Porcelain
Most Ceramic materials can be cut with the waterjet. However, some very hard ceramics are not economical to cut. Some applications are Ceramic and Porcelain tile inlays as well as countertops.
Thin Materials
Shim Steels & Gasket Materials
The waterjet and laser will cut the thinnest of materials, if we can hold it down on our machine and it is not affected by water, then we can cut it. From Stainless shim steel for cylinder liner spacers to most gasket materials.
Paper Materials
Using the laser we can cut a range of paper materials with precision and intricate detail.
