Our story





AcuCut was established in 2016, located in Oamaru, a small growing town in North Otago New Zealand.


AcuCut (Accurate Cutting) is a CNC Precision Cutting business, bringing technology and precision locally to Oamaru and nationwide. AcuCut began by providing precision waterjet cut profiles for any industry, from engineering parts to small personal projects. Now we have expanded further, providing the same dedication across Laser Cutting & Engraving, CNC Machining and Digital Tracing.

Meet the Team





Matthew Melton



Director / Engineer



Matt founded the company in 2016, bringing his engineering knowledge, work ethic and a passion for precision to the business.


Matt studied his trade as a Marine Technician in the Royal New Zealand Navy. Gaining skills and knowledge, then after his time in the Navy he worked in the super yacht industry as a Chief Marine Engineer.


Matt has skills in CAD (Computer Aided design) CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing), mechanical and precision engineering. He is creative, artistic and loves a challenge.



Darrien Goodall



Workshop Manager, Engineer & WaterJet Operator



Darrien joined the team in 2018 coming from a mechanical engineering background. He brings a wealth of knowledge and has the skills to take on any task.


He achieved Level 4 Mechanical Engineering during his trade at Alliance Pukeuri. After completing his time at Alliance, he took on a position at Rainbow Confectionary in the maintenance team. When a position became available at AcuCut he jumped at the chance to further his skill set in the exciting field of CNC Precision cutting.


He has a passion for brewing beer and 4 wheel driving, is a family man, and always loves a good laugh at work.



Kathryn Swann



Designer, Signwriter & Laser Operator



Kathryn joined the team in 2022, with a background in design and illustration, she brings her creative flair and passion for design to any job that comes

her way.


Kathryn studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Coventry University, UK. After working in London and freelancing in the UK, she headed to NZ in 2010 on a working holiday and never left. She's spent the last 6 years at Riverstone Kitchen where she redesigned their branding, packaging and last 2 cook books. Now at AcuCut, Kathryn is loving working in design

full-time and not only designing but making the products.


Kathryn enjoys cooking, walking her dogs and loves a crossfit session.
